Well-worn jeans and that old faithful top – a Pass it on poem

Thank you to Rob Cottle, Deputy Night Manager at Smiths News, and member of the Pass It On SteerCo for penning this wonderful poem about the sorts of donations we need for our Winter campaign!
To you and me it’s a pair of well-worn jeans,
Of which their best years have long been seen.
To you and me it’s that old faithful top,
Throughout its time it has seen the lot.
The old jogging bottoms we now only do the gardening in,
Yet between you and me we think they’re ready for the bin.
The battered trainers that have gone out of fashion so quick.
Do you remember when you bought them, you thought they were sick!
The boots we wore to take the dog round the field,
Now left in the cupboard they’re fate sealed.
The gloves that use to keep our hands so warm
Are now shoved in a drawer after being clicked by a thorn.
The sleeping bags we used to camp out in the dark,
They’re now out of date and look way off the mark.
Whilst all the above are ready to be replaced,
Stop! Don’t throw these out in haste.
For we know a few people who’d be happy to receive,
Their lives so far away from ours… you wouldn’t believe.
So by donating to the homeless, you’ll not only put a smile on their face
You’ll also be helping to make the world a better place!
