We are thankful for those who have worked with Pass It On previously and those who provide us with ongoing support to be able to continue our work, so we were grateful when we were approached by a Single Homeless Project (SHP) charity for King George’s, the Westminster-based hostel which provides shelter for homeless individuals.
King George’s hostel, established in the 1900s, was set up by King George V, as a refuge for men returning from the first World War. One of the largest within the SHP, the hostel accommodates up to 68 people and works exclusively with men who have complex needs such as issues with substance abuse and those who suffer with mental or physical health.
The hostel is run by a dedicated and hardworking team of managers, project workers, co-ordinators and many volunteers and health professionals. The support given by the wider community – from the donations we receive to individuals volunteering on different projects are all vital in making a difference to the residents; providing tangible help and support whilst giving them hope and an increased sense of wellbeing.
We are proud to have been able to support such a fantastic cause; to provide clothing and rucksacks containing essential items such as food, bottled drinks and hygiene items to help in making a positive impact on residents’ wellbeing; encouraging individuals needing confidence to get back into work and seek volunteering opportunities.
If you would like to support us in the work that we do and the help we provide to homeless individuals and like-minded organisations, please consider making a donation by visiting our website, linked here.
